Why this blog? I tried blogging some years ago with LIVEJOURNAL and BLOGGER (how’s that for dating myself?) but it never became habit. Now, for some reason, at my age and current stage in life, I find thoughts and words pouring out of me, and I need to put them down somewhere, a place that isn’t Instagram or Facebook. I considered writing in a physical journal (the thought of which seemed so romantic in my daydreams). But I know myself and am sure that I wouldn’t be able to sustain it. Typing on my phone or laptop would have to be the way to go.
I started with the Day One app as suggested by a YouTuber I follow, Ali Abdaal. This is fine for my private thoughts and feelings that I’m not yet ready to broadcast to the world. But Ali also suggests to show your work, to put yourself out there. A dear friend of mine also asked me a while back that if I might want to join them on a writer’s workshop. I had never considered this before. I never thought of myself as a writer. Yet this stuck with me and it’s been in the back of my mind since. Me? A writer?
So here’s to a new space for my musings and writings, to putting myself out there, with no hope or agenda (to quote a classic film), and being open to whatever it may bring.
P.S. Hello to that friend, if you’re reading this, you know who you are. Do you still want to do that workshop?
